Two Bucks and a Doe Rabbitry - is actually a combination of two rabbitries. One is in Magnolia, Texas. It is operated by John Schaeffer who specializes in Californian and Broken New Zealand Rabbits. One is in Union High, Texas operated by Mike and Jana Miller who also raise Californians. Their daughter, Lacie, formerly showed Satins and Mini Satins. Lacie was the 2015 National FFA Small Animal Proficiency Award winner and Taylor Williams, another local California exhibitor is a 2016 finalist for the same award.
John Schaeffer and his wife, Connie began raising rabbits in the early 90's with their two daughters, Elizabeth and Kristen. They have won many honors including numerous Best In Shows, Best of Breeds and Best Opposites. They have been particularly successful in meat pen shows winning the prestigious and lucrative Montgomery County Show. When Elizabeth graduated, John kept showing rabbits in the Open category. He now raises and shows broken new zealands with his granddaughter, Rylie. Connie does her best to stay away from rabbits shows but as those of us in the rabbit business know, rabbits are a family business and her contributions are gratefully acknowledged. John joined Mike and Jana in 2005 in the formation of Two Bucks and a Doe Rabbitry. Their first show together was the 2005 CRSC Nationals in Belton, TX where they won Jr. Buck and Fur classes and finished second in meat pens. Since that time they have won best men pen at the TRBA State Show in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 as well as ARBA Nationals in 2006 and CRSC Nationals in 2008. They have been in the top three in CRSC meat pen sweepstakes every year ( In 2009 - 2010 they finally managed to beat the Howe's from Michigan and won it). Contact info:
